Netflix’s animated film KPop Demon Hunters (KDH) continues to generate global buzz. According to Google Trends, interest in the show hit record highs, particularly among U.S. YouTube viewers in the arts and entertainment category over the past month. Viewer interest, measured on a scale from 0 to 100, surged in early July and consistently remained in the top tier (90–100) from late July through early August.
The film’s original soundtrack (OST) has sparked a new global trend, most notably through the viral “Golden Challenge.” HUNTR/X, the girl group featured in KDH, performed the hit track “Golden,” which reached No. 2 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart Top 100 as of August 8. Three additional songs from the OST also made it into the top 10, demonstrating the soundtrack’s broad appeal.
Rival group Saja Boys contributed hits like “Soda Pop” (No. 6) and “Your Idol” (No. 8), while TWICE’s “Take Down” charted at No. 47 and “Strategy” at No. 64. BLACKPINK’s “Jump” remained strong at No. 35 for a fourth consecutive week, and Rosé’s “APT.” rose to No. 39, marking 42 consecutive weeks on the chart. Meanwhile, KATSEYE’s “Gabriela” re-entered the chart at No. 97, totaling five weeks overall.
